Suriname - Monster Piraiba
Long time we had been looking for a destination where we could offer a unique fishing on the huge Amazon catfish species. In Suriname we finally found that place. Come with us and conquer the remote rainforest and hunt down the biggest catfish in the world in a unique and amazing nature!
Suriname is the smallest independent country in South America, situated between Guyana and French Guiana. The former Dutch colony has an exceptional population of various Amazon catfish. We have made it our mission to quell the largest of all catfish species in Suriname. The Piraiba catfish, better known as "Goliath Catfish", can grow up to a length of 3 meters and can weigh about 440 pounds. Piraibas are brute fighters and live within the numerous jungle rivers in Suriname. The strong current makes the drill on a Piraiba to the ultimate task for anglers and their material.
The wild jungle ambience makes Suriname an extraordinary destination and for you we have explored one of the best areas for Piraiba throughout South America. The jungle river offers an extremely high population of capital Piraibas. The average length of our first expedition was between 5-6 feet. In addition, we could catch many fish between 6 and 7 feet. The heaviest Piraiba brought over 260 pounds on the scale and delivered a murderous fight!
During your expedition you are accommodated in a tented camp in the middle of the jungle. Our local partners are excellent cooks and prepare tasty meals for you. Fishing in our river is strongly dependent on tides and therefore the fishing times depend on the up and running tides. We have placed our expedition dates on the best tidal levels. You will fish on Piraiba during the top time. In the afternoon you can relax in the camp or catch bait fish.
In the new 2015season, you can go hunting with Carsten Zeck. During our first expedition Carsten could prove his skills in an outstanding way and will stand at your side as an ultimate catfish expert during the first expedition. The other expeditions will be guided by Andreas and Florian. Take the challenge and defeat the largest catfish in the world!
